As a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation, the NAPT Foundation relies upon the donation of time and money to help achieve our goals. We are currently seeking donors and volunteers to help the Foundation undertake its educational campaign, helping all K-12 districts comply with new EPA air quality regulations.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations call for new school buses to meet stricter emissions requirements beginning with model year 2007. However, without expert support, the majority of school districts nationwide will not have the funding or the technical ability to meet this deadline.

In response, the NAPT Foundation, a nonprofit group committed to promoting education in pupil transportation, will be hosting the first national workshop on Emissions Reduction Technology and Funding. The first event will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2004 starting at 9:00 am at the Melville Marriott on Long Island, New York. The NAPT Foundation is seeking donors willing to support ongoing workshops across the country to help school districts nationwide meet this mandate. Without our support, the majority of schools will lack the guidance and support needed to make such a transition.

Some of the nation's leading experts in pupil transportation will lead seminars designed to help schools develop migration strategies, focusing on their technical needs and funding requirements.

Topics for the event will include:

  • 2007 Model Year School Bus Emission Reduction Technology Standards

  • Retrofit Technology Available to Schools Today

  • Funding Available to K-12 Districts

  • School District Success Stories

  • Assistance Available to Retrofit Existing K-12 Fleets

School administrators and educational consultants interested in attending the event can register in advance for only $25. A significant portion of the workshop's tuition for the seminar has been underwritten by several of the NAPT Foundation's corporate and individual donors.

Each year, approximately 440,000 school buses travel over 4.3 billion miles, serving over 24 million school-aged children. With over 10 billion student trips per year, school buses are recognized as the safest mode of transportation in the world.
